Family-Centric Features

Life with kids is nonstop, so you need a minivan that can handle carpools, road trips, and your daily commute. Honda Odyssey vs. Chrysler Pacifica – which one is designed for your lifestyle? Both of these industry favorites have automatic sliding doors, flexible seating, remote engine start, and even available Wi-Fi hotspots, but the Odyssey has some cool features that don’t come on the Pacifica. A standard folding armrest in the third-row makes long trips with kids in the “way back” a lot more comfortable. You can also raise and lower the windows in the Odyssey by simply putting the key in the outside lock or using the keyless remote. So, if it’s too hot or starts to rain, you can take care of it in a snap.

The Safer, The Better

Both the Odyssey and the Pacifica are built with the goal of keeping your family safe at all times. Each is equipped with extensive airbag systems, four-wheel antilock brakes, daytime running lights, rear view cameras, and traction and stability control systems. You can also add systems for lane departure warning, crash mitigating brakes, blind spot alerts, and parking assistance features. But the Odyssey’s added Whiplash Mitigation Front Seat Design is a big differentiator from the Pacifica. It’s basically a headrest that’s been designed to move forward during a rear-end collision to protect your head from being thrown back. This whiplash protection system prevents neck and spine injuries, and it’s just not an option on the Pacifica.

Count on the Odyssey

When it comes to reliability, the Odyssey and the Honda brand come out on top of the Chrysler Pacifica. According to J.D. Power and Associates’ latest study, Honda vehicles are ranked much higher in reliability – 7th versus 22nd place – because of far fewer problems per 100 vehicles. The Odyssey is also the winner when it comes to residual value. According to ALG, after 36 months, the Odyssey maintains 53 percent of its original value, while the Pacifica only maintains 50 percent of its value. This difference is even more noticeable after 60 months. The Odyssey has a residual value of 39 percent compared to only 32 percent for the Pacifica.
